English at Endon Hall…
The principal aim of the English curriculum at Endon Hall Primary & Nursery School is to enable children to develop their ability to communicate effectively in a grammatically accurate and confident manner through the spoken and written word. We recognise that English is a core subject within the National Curriculum and a pre-requisite for educational and social progress. Mastery over language empowers children to communicate creatively and imaginatively, as well as allowing them engagement with the world at large.
At Endon Hall Primary & Nursery School, we are committed to raising standards in English in our school, particularly in the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. We aim to encourage the development of all aspects of literacy using a text based approach with a balance of knowledge and skills based learning and cross curricular links (where relevant); seeking to inspire learners to read widely and often and ensuring that children are prepared for the next stage in their education. We endeavour to ensure that there is equality of access and opportunity for all children to develop their English skills. We seek to ensure that all children achieve their full potential in all aspects of English by the time they make the transition from primary to secondary education and recognise the importance that the early foundations have on future learning and life.
