Curriculum ambassadors & Pupil Councils

As part of our approach to actively engaging children in the life of the school, and our emphasis on personal development, curriculum ambassadors (children who show a talent, flair, apparent ‘natural ability’ and/or commitment to a particular subject in school) are appointed to represent each curriculum subject.

Curriculum ambassadors are involved in projects or activities to help them and others fulfil their potential in particular subject areas. They also provide a vital insight into the views of children about each curriculum area, which we find invaluable.

“Staff ask pupils about their opinions of the school on a regular basis. Staff value these opinions and consider these when planning lessons and activities”. (Ofsted, Nov 2021)

We also have active Eco and School Councils, who take part in a range of projects linked to sustainabilty and the life of the school.

School Council

Our school council help to improve our school in a number of ways. They put across the pupil voice by gathering ideas from their own classes and feeding back during School Council meetings.

Their work to date has included:

        • Learning about democracy through a visit from a local Councillor and virtual attendance at the Children’s Parliament
        • A healthy eating poster campaign
        • Setting up a ‘problem pass’ system to help children share and receive support for their worries/problems
        • Planning charity days
        • Suggesting ideas for events & fundraising
        • Giving their opinions on school life and running regular clinics to listen to pupil voice
Eco Council

The Eco Council are committed to improving the school with their involvement in a number of projects.

Their work to date has included:

        • Litter collecting
        • Leading assemblies about how to be more Eco-friendly
        • Planting trees around the school grounds
        • Creating posters to promote eco friendly habits
        • RAG rating light switches to save energy
        • Learning about water usage and raising money for Water Aid
        • Recycling
        • Supporting our local Food Bank
