Foundation subjects at Endon Hall…

At Endon Hall Primary School our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of children in our context, with the right balance of knowledge, skills and understanding. Our curriculum ensures coverage of statutory curriculum content, knowledge and skills; but also incorporates elements that reflect our context and the skills and experiences we want children to develop and encounter during their time at Endon Hall. We are very focused on children’s personal development, as well as their academic development.

Our curriculum aims to strike a balance between the core skills (English and Maths) and the foundation subject skills (Science, History, Geography, Design and Technology, Computing/Online Safety, Physical Education, Religious Education, Art and Design, Music, Languages and Relationships & Health Education); in order that children’s talents can be exploited and applied more widely.

We have a progressive approach to curriculum delivery, so that children move through the school building upon their knowledge, skills and experiences; ensuring that they become independent, responsible citizens with lifelong learning capability.

We aim to give children the skills to become lifelong learners, therefore, these 5 R’s are interweaved throughout the curriculum. These are skills, we believe, that are not content driven, but important ways of working that children need to master in order to be prepared for the next stage in their education.We use whole school theme weeks, enrichment days, Educational Visits, project work and residential visits (throughout Key Stage 2) to further enrich our curriculum.
